Rhythm Is Power - POC
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Description
Build up your combo by hitting the ball to the bat of the music! Use your trusty rusty pipe and smack the hell out of it!. Tap the tempo to choose how fast you want the music and the difficulty of the beat.

Songs
The game features quite a variety of songs, so I hope you'll tap different tempos to hear them all! Some are more difficult than others to play with because of the time signature / nature of the genre. A good one to start with would be the upbeat 80s-synth one (think just under Bille Jean tempo).
BPM | Description |
---|---|
60-80 | 3/4 chiptune-esque boom-bap jazz chords yep |
80-100 | Dark synth hip hop (moody) |
100-120 | Upbeat 80s-synth |
120-140 | 5/4 synthfunk |
140-160 | Fast dancehall-house |
160-180 | Liquid drum and bass with some slight af jazz tones |
180-200 | Super-upbeat hardcore |
Context
This is another game that I made this year while traveling to work on the train. I spent a significant longer time on this than the others this year due to fiddling with the tempo management architecture.
Right now it's a proof of concept / demo to show off the power of rhythm in a 'regular' game. It was meant to be played in the browser for ease of play but Unity for WebGL doesn't support threading, which is what my whole tempo code architecture is built off of >.<
